Limited Edition Label Design for Ocean Restoration

In 2022, I was commissioned to design a limited-edition beer label for Corona, as part of a global sustainability campaign in collaboration with Coral Vita—a groundbreaking organization dedicated to restoring coral reefs around the world.

The Brief

The goal was to create a special edition Corona Extra label that would raise awareness and funds for Coral Vita’s coral repopulation efforts. Every bottle sold contributed to ocean restoration, helping rebuild damaged reef ecosystems using Coral Vita’s land-based coral farming methods. My role focused exclusively on the label design, working within the framework of Corona’s newly introduced rectangular label format, with complete freedom to bring the underwater concept to life.

Design Approach

The creative direction was inspired by the vibrancy, biodiversity, and fragility of healthy coral reefs. I illustrated an entire subaquatic scene by hand—featuring coral structures, fish, and sea life—designed to wrap around the bottom half of the label. The upper section preserves Corona’s iconic branding, framed by clean negative space and their signature crown. The deep blue tones represent clean, healthy oceans, while the yellow and white accents stay true to Corona’s recognizable brand palette. The visual transition from sea to sky reflects a harmonious ecosystem—above and below water.

Outcome

This limited edition design helped position Corona as an advocate for marine conservation while supporting Coral Vita’s mission. The label served as both packaging and purpose, turning every bottle into a message about the importance of protecting our oceans.
